With Queens Park Rangers sitting in an underwhelming 17th place in the Championship table, now is the time for Ian Holloway to act in the January transfer window.

The R's find themselves 13 points off the play-off places, and only 5 points off the drop zone to League One, which for a club that was in the top flight just a couple of years ago, simply isn't good enough.

One major problem over the last couple of years that R's have encountered in the Championship is that they haven't had a proven goalscorer in their ranks since Charlie Austin departed for Southampton.

The likes of Conor Washington and Sebastian Polter, both unproven in the second tier, haven't been finding the net regularly, and the London club's current top scorer, Idrissa Sylla, has only managed to find the net 6 times in 19 appearances for Ian Holloway's men.

With that being said, here, FLW writer George Harbey identifies TWO strikers that Ian Holloway must look to sign in January, in order to galvanise a late push for promotion.

Lee Gregory

Gregory has been in fine form for Millwall over the last couple of years, and is a player that has been on the R's radar for a long time now.

The 28-year-old scored 27 times in all competitions for the Lions last term, and already this season, he has found the net 10 times.

Although delving into League One was fairly unsuccessful last time around, with the signing of former Peterborough striker Conor Washington, Gregory has proved that he can score prolifically and regularly, something that none of the current strikers at Loftus Road possess.

Jordan Rhodes

A number of Championship outfits will be chasing the signature of the forward in January, and there is no wonder why.

The 26-year-old has scored a staggering 185 goals in 359 career appearances, and has also netted double figures in his last four seasons in the Championship.

But the Scottish international has found himself surplus to requirements for Aitor Karanka's Middlesbrough this season, with a January move away from the Riverside looking ever so likely.

QPR are a big club who have only just come out of the Premier League a couple of seasons ago, and Ian Holloway could really tempt Rhodes to Loftus Road in January.
