Despite having a reasonably large amount of strikers signed on at the club, Preston North End have had some issues with their forwards.

A serious injury to Stevie May, which he suffered last season, has kept him out for the start of this campaign, and another injury to Jermaine Beckford has also kept him on the sidelines in recent weeks.

On top of this, arguably Preston's best striker at the club, Joe Garner, transferred to Scottish club Rangers in the summer, leaving manager Simon Grayson just three fit strikers.

The main option up top is Jordan Hugill, who is in fine form, and below him in the pecking order is former Cardiff striker Eoin Doyle and loanee Simon Makienok.

The fans certainly wanted another striker to arrive in the summer but after no such transfer took place, the North End faithful will be hoping that some of the £1.6 million fee received for Garner will be spent on reinforcements.

In honour of this, FootballLeagueWorld writer Tom Rawcliffe identifies TWO strikers which Preston North End should try and seal a deal for...

Fraizer Campbell

Something which surprised many people this summer was the choice to keep Fraizer Campbell at Crystal Palace.

With the signings of big-money Christian Benteke and Loic Remy, Campbell fell even further down the pecking order - an order which he was already very low down.

In the 2015/16 season, he made just 11 appearances and is yet to feature this season.

At Selhurst Park, he is wasting his career being excluded from the squad, so a move to the Championship would massively benefit both parties.

He has shown his class before in the Championship, scoring 22 goals in 46 games, and he would certainly add something different to the Preston side.

Antonio Martinez

Nottingham Forest v Rotherham United - Sky Bet Football League Championship

19-year-old Toni Martinez joined Premier League club West Ham United in April 2016, making the move from Valencia where he was prolific for their youth side.

He has carried that form over to England as well, scoring five goals in six matches in the Premier League Two division, as well as scoring twice in the EFL Trophy.

There is obviously absolutely no chance that the Hammers would let Martinez go on a permanent deal given that he is one of the club's hottest prospects.

But if he is not in Slaven Bilić's plans for the first team, then a loan move to the Championship could benefit both parties, with him gaining invaluable experience of the professional game.
