Norwich City fans were left feeling frustrated and incensed as the transfer deadline shut without the club having signed a striker.

However, Canaries boss Alex Neil does have a number of forwards to choose from. Cameron Jerome seems to be his first choice and is repaying his faith with a few goals this year, and Steven Naismith, Kyle Lafferty and Nelson Oliveira can also fill that spot.

However, the ultimate aim for Norwich is to win promotion this year, and that is made much easier if they have a prolific goal-scorer to fire them to the top league places. Whilst Jerome does offer some goals, he is not an out-and-out finisher, and the other options are not exactly 20-goal-a-season types of strikers either.

Neil will no doubt be tempted to heed the fans' advice and dip into the market for a striker during the January window. January does tend to offer slim pickings and prices are inflated, but there will be a number of strikers keen to force a move, especially if they are not getting regular game time at their current clubs.

Here, FootballLeagueWorld writer Jay Williams identifies TWO strikers that Norwich should try to bring in this January...

Benik Afobe

Benik Afobe might look to force a move away (either on loan or permanently) from AFC Bournemouth in January given his lack of match time with the Cherries.

Manager Eddie Howe has only handed three substitute appearances to the 23-year-old in the Premier League this season as he becomes an increasingly peripheral figure for the South Coast side.

The former England Under-21 international is a proven goal-scorer at Championship level, especially shining in his spell with Wolves, but is out of favour at Bournemouth and therefore fits Norwich's requirements perfectly.

Leigh Griffiths

Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths is way too good for the SPL and Norwich might be a very suitable destination for the 5'8'' striker.

The 26-year-old has scored goals for fun wherever he has been; at Livingston, Dundee, Wolves, Hibernian and Celtic.

With eight goals in twelve appearances already this season for the Scottish giants, the Scotland international might fancy joining fellow countryman Neil and testing himself in the English leagues.
