What a shock, Aston Villa are an absolute mess at the moment, a common theme of the last few years.

The Villans have just dismissed manager Roberto Di Matteo as they hang down in the wrong end of the Championship. It would seem another overhaul is set to take place at the club with Steve Bruce taking charge and implementing his own backroom staff, the vast majority of which are coming from Hull City.

They face Wolverhampton Wanderers today in Bruce's first game, with his first away game coming up against Reading on Tuesday night, where they'll hope to end their infamously poor away form.

They have plenty of options up front but given their position in the table it's fairly obvious that it isn't working.

With Rudy Gestede, Jordan Ayew, Jonathan Kodjia and Ross McCormack up front they're certainly not short of goalscorers, but goals will be needed to get them up the table. Here are two strikers Villa should look at:

Scott Hogan

The second top goalscorer in the Championship so far, Hogan has picked up straight from where he left off last season, where he hit a magnificent string of form with seven goals in seven appearances.

He's a former teammate of Jamie Vardy's and has taken a very similar career path to the England star, and could hope to emulate his success at a club like Aston Villa.

He's in fantastic form and if he were to replicate that at Villa Park it would go some way to helping them to the promotion this year.

Benik Afobe

A man who's struggling to find minutes for Bournemouth this season as they go for one up front, which is currently Callum Wilson. With only three substitute appearances to his name, so far this season, he could look for a move away this January.

He's now a proven Championship goalscorer after joining Wolves from Arsenal a few years ago, wth 22 goals in a year at the club.

He'd be a wonderful signing for any Championship team looking for goals, and they're easy to get if you're Afobe. If Villa want goals, they can rely on Afobe - if they're willing to stump up the cash.
