Stoke City's disappointing start to the 18/19 campaign continued after throwing away a 2-0 lead at Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday afternoon.

A brace from striker Benik Afobe gave the Potters a 2-0 lead, before Marco Matias and Barry Bannan netted to earn the Owls a well deserved point, leaving Gary Rowett's men in search of only their second league win of the season.

It has been a very disappointing start to the season for Stoke, who were tipped as bookies favourites to be promoted come the end of the season, however sit in 20th position after seven league outings.

Games come thick and fast in the Championship however, and the Potters have the chance to redeem themselves on Tuesday night, as they prepare to host a Swansea City side plagued with injuries.

There have been many Stoke players not pulling their weight, and here, we take a look at two players that clearly need to step up their game.

After rejecting huge bids for the Welsh international in the summer, Allen just hasn't put in the kind of performances that you would naturally expect of him this season.

The 28-year old is one of Stoke's most important players, and desperately needs to get back to the level that he was producing at last season.

Despite making over 340 appearances for the Potters and been a consistent performer for Stoke over the years, Shawcross has been another disappointing player for Rowett's men this season, and should definitely look to start improving.

At the age of 30, the centre-half has come under major criticism by Stoke fans this season for being too slow and sloppy when it comes to retaining possession.
