Sheffield Wednesday slipped to 14th in the Championship after last night’s comprehensive defeat at the hands of Queens Park Rangers.

Joe Luhukay’s men travelled to London looking bounce back from last Friday’s home defeat against Middlesbrough.

It wasn’t to be as the Yorkshire side were resoundingly seen off by Steve McClaren’s men.

The Owls’ boss made five changes from the past weekend’s loss to Boro, including dropping captain Tom Lees to the bench.

The changes made failed to live up to Luhukay’s expectations as the Hoops cruised to a 3-0 win.

Goals from Tomer Hemed, Luke Freeman and Nahki Wells completed the rout.

Wednesday have now won just twice in their last six matches and have fallen to two consecutive defeats.

Despite the reverse in the capital, one player tired his best to try and drag his side back into the contest.

Lucas Joao started in the match and managed to play 75 minutes at Loftus Road.

The 25-year-old striker was caught offside once during the evening and had a great chance to equalise for the visitors with a header that was unable to nestle in the back of the net.

That header was one of his two shots last night, with the other being blocked - he failed to trouble Joe Lumley in the host’s goal.

Joao managed 42 touches of the ball in an advanced position that received minimal service.

That meant the Portuguese striker had to drop deeper to see more of the ball and that is where the Owls man saw the most joy.

He attempted 30 passes and completed 27 of those, equating to a pass success rate of 90 per cent.

Of those 30, three of them were key passes to give Wednesday a chance at getting an attempt in on goal.

Three offensive aerial duels were attempted, as well as two in the opposite box helping his side defend - winning two of those during his 75 minutes on the pitch.

Joao also managed one successful tackle from his two attempted and made one clearance too.

From the stats, you can see his contribution was further back on the pitch as Wednesday struggled to impose themselves on the match and only managed four shots on target all evening.

Try as he might, the 25-year-old struggled to have more of an impact on the match, and that was evident with his side failing to score in the 3-0 reverse at Loftus Road last night.
