Sheffield Wednesday will look to bounce back from their disappointing 2-1 loss at home to Middlesbrough on Friday night - the Owls' first defeat in five league games.

The Owls, who now sit 11th in the Championship table after thirteen league games, will look to bounce back with a winnable trip to QPR on Tuesday night.

A push for the play-offs is very much on for Jos Luhukay's men, and the January transfer window will be a very important period in Wednesday's hunt for promotion this season.

The Owls have let go of far too many important players in recent years - on some occasions, not even for a fee.

With that being said, here, we take a look at two transfer developments that Luhukay will be praying don't happen in January...

There is no doubt that Adam Reach has been Wednesday's standout performer this season, and his impressive performances this season have reportedly attracted the interest from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The 25-year old winger is the Owls' joint top-goalscorer with five goals and two assists to his name, and it would be a huge blow for the Yorkshire club if Reach left for Molineux in January.

Penney has come up leaps and bounds under Luhukay this season and looks to be one of the brighter prospects at Hillsborough.

As is the nature of football though, Penney's performances have against attracted the reported interest of promotion rivals Aston Villa, with new boss Dean Smith reportedly very keen on signing the left-back.

The 20-year old's departure would be a huge blow, and one that would make very little sense with Villa competing with Wednesday for promotion.
