Millwall attacker Fred Onyedinma has cast doubt over his future at the club ahead of a return in the New Year.

The 21-year-old is enjoying a successful spell on loan at Wycombe Wanderers - his second with the Chairboys - but his six-month loan comes to an end in January when he will return to London.

Onyedinma spoke to NewsAtDen concerning his future with the Championship club and hinted he might look to move away in search of regular first-team football.

The winger sought a move away to get precisely that after ending last season on the peripheries of the squad - with most of his appearances coming late on from the bench.

The winger turns 22 this month, and even though he is still relativity young, has played over 150 times for the Lions.

With his future in doubt, here are two scenarios that could come to light to give Onyedinma a future at Millwall.

It is not beyond the realms of possibility that Lee Gregory leaves in January - he is out of contract at the end of the season.

And with Millwall having a policy of one-year deals to players over the age of 30, he could be sold to secure some money for his services instead of potentially leaving on a free in the summer should he want a longer deal.

Fred Onyedinma divides the opinion of many of the Lions’ supporters, and he could see a future at the club should Gregory, or any other striker or winger leave in the winter window.

It is safe to say Millwall’s summer arrival has struggled so far this season.

The club’s supporters are yet to see the best of him, and if he remains below-par and without any real influence in a game, that could be the time for Fred Onyedinma to get his chance.

He would have to take - a chance - as the main wingers for Neil Harris’ side are Shane Ferguson and Jed Wallace.

If Onyedinma could move ahead of Skalak in the pecking order, he would be surely more involved with the squad on a matchday and have more chances to show his worth.
