The season is entering the final stages but for Rotherham United there’s still an awful lot to play for.

The Millers are currently sitting in the relegation zone and seven points from safety which leaves them with plenty of work to do between now and the end of the season.

Thankfully some rather unique circumstances mean that Paul Warne’s side have four games in hand on those above them which means that their fate is firmly in their own hands.

Of course it’s going to take a heck of an effort to put those points on the board, but at least Rotherham are in control of their own fate.

Regardless of what league the club are in next term, Warne will be hoping to strengthen his squad but with funds at a premium he may have to look into his youth ranks at potential players who could make the step up.

With that in mind here are two Rotherham youngsters who could be ready for the first team next term.

Who knocked Rotherham out of the Carabao Cup?

Jacob Gratton

The winger could be the next player to progress into the first team fold.

Gratton is a popular figure at Rotherham United after joining the club when he was just nine years old.

After penning a professional deal until 2022 the 19-year-old could be looking to break into Paul Warne’s plans next terms as he looks to make the left wing spot his own.

Joshua Kayode

A player who looks set to have a really bright future in front of him.

The 20-year-old striker has spent this season on loan with Carlisle United and looked impressive after finding the net six times, leading to reported interest from Cardiff City, Middlesbrough, Brentford and Bournemouth.

With such interest in him already Kayode will be hoping to step up from League Two level and establish himself in Rotherham’s first team fold.
