After achieving promotion last term, Rotherham United will no doubt be seeking to solidify themselves as a Championship club this season after years of moving between the second and third divisions continuously.

Possessing one of the younger squads in the division, Millers boss Paul Warne will certainly be looking to make use of the deeper depths of his squad, particularly with the infamous fixture congestion of the winter period having now reared its head.

Opportunities to nail down a starting spot will certainly appear plentiful for those that are currently out of the favour, however with January approaching, some members of the squad may well be eyeing the exit door at the New York Stadium.

Quiz: Did these 17 Rotherham United players ever actually score a league goal for the club?

Here, we take a look at TWO Rotherham United players who may be eyeing up a January departure from the club...

Josh Vickers

One player who is currently out of favour at the New York Stadium is former Arsenal goalkeeper Josh Vickers, with the towering shot stopper currently finding himself third in the pecking order between the sticks for the Millers at present.

Still aged only 24, the Brentwood born keeper will surely be seeking to get some much needed minutes under his belt after being so consistent at his previous club Lincoln City.

For that reason, along with the increased competition provided by Chelsea loanee Jamal Blackman, Vickers may well be eyeing a loan move to pick up more minutes, or perhaps even a permanent exit from the club if things do not improve.

Given his age, he has his best years are still ahead of him, but for a player that is so used to playing regularly, we could well see him heading for the exit come January.

Clark Robertson

Another man who may well consider a temporary loan move away from the club come January is Clark Robertson, who has unfortunately suffered yet another injury setback for the Millers.

Ruled out for up to three months back in October, Robertson may consider a short term loan upon his return in order to build up his match fitness, with Michael Iwiekwe and Richard Wood currently commanding the two staring centre back positions at present.

Well into his prime as a professional, Robertson will be seeking to gain as many minutes as possible to speed up his return, so therefore a spell away from the club could well do him good.

Furthermore, Warne may well wish to dip into the transfer market for a new defender if his side's injury problems do not improve, thus potentially hampering Robertson's chances of regaining his spot in the side.
