Nottingham Forest have appointed Gary Brazil and Jack Lester to take interim charge of the club until the end of the 2016/17 season after failing to land their main managerial targets.

Forest owner Fawaz Al Hasawi sacked Philippe Montanier in mid-January after the Frenchman had the club sitting just above the relegation zone.

Since taking charge of first team duties on a caretaker basis, Gary Brazil has inspired Nottingham Forest to three wins in four matches and the Reds have climbed up the table to 15th as a result, with eight points separating them from the bottom three.

Brazil will be left in charge until the summer, when Al Hasawi will assess his options and look to appoint someone else or give Brazil the job permanently.

Nigel Clough is understood to be a summer target but we believe that Rangers boss Mark Warburton could be a good option.

Here are 2 reasons why.

Transfer links

Mark Warburton has had the good fortune of working with a number of talented players during spells with Brentford and Rangers.

If he can convince some of these to follow him to Forest, then he would be assembling a talented squad.

Success everywhere

Mark Warburton has enjoyed success at both Brentford and Rangers.

In his first season in charge of the Bees, he won them promotion to the Championship and he led them to the play-off semi-final against all odds in his second year in charge.

At Rangers, he has got them back into the Scottish Premier League and they are competing for second spot.
