Marcelo Bielsa made a crucial error that ultimately could have cost his side in their defeat to Blackburn Rovers at the weekend.

Leeds were narrowly beaten 2-1 at Ewood Park in a shock result that lead to the Whites losing ground on the promotion chasing teams in the Championship.

Mateusz Klich's 5th goal of the season wasn't enough for Leeds as Danny Graham and Darragh Lenihan were on target for Blackburn to see Rovers rise to 7th in the table - and only out of the play-off positions on goal difference.

But Bielsa will be ruing his decision to start (at the time) top goalscorer Kemar Roofe in a wider position than normal for Leeds.

Roofe was played at right-midfield for 71 minutes before he was substituted for the returning Pablo Hernandez who couldn't inspire his side to a recovery.

We look at two reasons why Bielsa made a mistake in playing Roofe out wide in the game against Tony Mowbray's side.

Find out those reasons here....

Before he picked up an injury, Roofe had been in excellent form for Marcelo Bielsa's side.

He already has four goals to his name this season and with two assists as well, he should be used in a more central role where he has already proved himself to be a vital asset to Leeds' promotion bid this season.

You can expect to see Bielsa start Roofe in his familiar striking role when Leeds face Ipswich Town at Elland Road in midweek.

Since signing from West Brom in the summer, Roberts has been second-choice striker for the majority of the season so far, with the excellent form shown by Kemar Roofe at the start of the season being the main factor as to why Roberts is currently second-choice.

With only three goals in his seven starts for Bielsa's side, the Leeds boss will certainly be considering dropping the 19-year-old for Wednesday's game, with Roofe vying for a more central role and the return of Pablo Hernandez likely to force Roberts out of the starting XI.
