It promises to be a very busy few days at Sunderland before the transfer deadline passes, with Jack Ross looking to do several deals.

Whilst bringing in at least one striker is the priority in terms of incomings, there could also be departures and Sky Sports have linked Bryan Oviedo with a move away from the Stadium of Light.

The 28-year-old has lost his place in recent weeks to Reece James, whilst Denver Hume is another option at left-back for the Black Cats.

Therefore, Sunderland are thought to be open to moving Oviedo on, with the Costa Rica international a high earner having been with the club since their Premier League days.

Whilst that's understandable, it would still be risky for the club to sell someone who has featured in 17 league games this season as they look to push for promotion.

And, here we look at TWO reasons why Sunderland must keep Oviedo until the summer...

He has high level experience

The former Everton man has 60 Premier League appearances and almost 50 international caps, so it's fair to say he is an experienced player.

That could be vital for a promotion run-in where the pressure builds.

Oviedo will be able to cope and could be a calming influence on some of the others in the group because of his past.

He is versatile

As well as that, he can play in a few positions which is crucial as the games pile up.

Capable as a left-back, he could also move into the left-midfield role with ease and play as a wing-back if Jack Ross changed the system. He could maybe even do a job in other roles if required too.

That is an important quality to have.
