The City Ground is the venue on Saturday afternoon when Nottingham Forest come up against Stoke City in the Championship.

Matchday 17 sees the continuation of second-tier football ahead of a two-week break to accommodate the next round of international fixtures.

With this the last scheduled match before the fortnight away from domestic football, both sides will be doing all they can to enter the hiatus with all three points.

Aitor Karanka’s men pulled off a stunning result last weekend beating Sheffield United to move into the top six.

Stoke, meanwhile, drew a blank with high-flying Middlesbrough to secure a precious home point and lift themselves to 15th in the table.

Ahead to the fixture between the two sides, Sky Sports has enlisted the help of David Prutton to give his expert opinion on the outcome of this match.

The EFL presenter and pundit believes the match between the two sides will end with the spoils shared in a 1-1 draw.

It will no doubt be a competitive match, as are most in the second-tier.

And, with that said, here are two reasons why Prutton’s Nottingham Forest v Stoke City prediction is going to be spot on.

A draw looks inevitable when you look at the last six matches either side have had.

Both have won three, drawn two and lost once.

They have identical records in an order a little different to one another, but the points return has been the same.

Going on current form, David Prutton is right to predict the outcome of this game a draw.

Both play similar systems, for Forest, it’s a 4-2-3-1, and for Stoke, it’s 4-3-3 - whichever way you look at it, when either team doesn’t have the ball, it's a five in midfield.

Aitor Karanka and Gary Rowett’s men aren’t the most attacking, which shows in the goal return of both teams this season - and with them looking to flood the middle of the pitch - the ball is bound to get lost in there.

With similar styles, they will no doubt cancel each other out, and the prediction of a draw in this game looks to be spot on.
