Sheffield Wednesday continued their fine run of Championship form to move within just two points of the play-off places this weekend.

A fine 4-2 win over Blackburn Rovers saw Steve Bruce remain unbeaten since taking over the reins at Hillsborough, and there's a growing sense of optimism amongst the Owls fans that they might well just sneak into that final top six spot come the end of the season.

Of course, there is a lot of football to be played including some big games against teams in and around the Owls, but while ever they remain in the form they are currently showing, there's no reason that Steve Bruce and his management team won't be confident of making a late surge.

We here at FLW have been suitably impressed with how the Owls are going about their business too, and with that in mind, we looked at TWO reasons why Wednesday will indeed make the play-off places...

Form is everything

Unbeaten in 11 under Bruce and scoring goals more freely than ever, the Owls are one of the in-form sides in the Championship.

This is crucial at this stage of the season, and there is always a team that emerges from the pack like Wednesday are doing.

If they can maintain this form, there's every reason to believe that they'll nestle into the top six come May.

Games against those around them

The Owls still have the likes of Preston, Bristol City, Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa all to play, a run of fixtures which will make or break their season you would assume.

If though, they can see off one or two of those teams, then it sets them right on track to be in the mix.

In fact, barring Stoke and QPR, all of Wednesday's final fixtures are against teams fighting it out near the top. A fascinating finish awaits for sure.
