Reading continue to struggle this season as manager Paul Clement struggles to get things right for the Royals.

Sitting fourth from bottom and with only two wins to their name this term, the Royals are in serious danger of making the drop into League One if they are not careful.

However, the club could well be making moves to address this situation, with news emerging today that the Berkshire club are eyeing up a move for Bolton Wanderers manager Phil Parkinson as a replacement for the under fire Clement.

Parkinson has done a good job with the Trotters, cementing their place back in the second tier following promotion from League One two seasons back.

With that in mind, we at FLW thought it would be good to look into this potential deal further, and we've highlighted why we think Parkinson to Reading could make sense.

Here's TWO reasons why...

He has bags of experience

Parkinson is an experienced manager who knows how to get the best out of underperforming players.

While his style of play might not be the most attractive, sometimes a drastic change is needed, and this is what Parkinson will represent in comparison to Clement.

No nonsense, and with a proven record behind him, Parkinson could well be just what Reading need right now.

He knows the club inside out

Parkinson spent over a decade with the Royals, making over 300 appearances while all the while being a firm fan favourite.

We have seen clubs go this route already, with Sheffield United appointing Chris Wilder and this week Aston Villa appointing lifelong fan Dean Smith.

If Reading's sole aim now is to simply survive, then bringing Parkinson in to galvanise the place and get enough wins on the board would make perfect sense.
