QPR defender Joel Lynch has revealed that he wants to stay at the club as he approaches the final few months of his deal.

The 31-year-old has been a regular this season and whilst results have dipped in the past month or so, he has impressed on the whole.

His partnership with Toni Leistner was crucial to Steve McClaren's side having a superb run earlier in the campaign that pushed them close to the play-off places at one stage.

Yet, he told West London Sport that he still hasn't been offered a new deal by the R's and if that remains the case he would obviously leave on a free in the summer.

Given the FFP situation at QPR it's hard to say with certainty what the club will do this summer, but here, we give TWO reasons as to why they should be doing all the can to secure Lynch on a longer deal...

He deserves it for his form this season

The first reason is quite simple - Lynch warrants a new deal!

As mentioned, he has been a vital player under McClaren and the former England boss has really helped the centre-back, who has improved significantly.

Clearly, the manager rates him and he is an important member of the squad.

He has experience

As well as that, Lynch is an experienced player in what is a relatively young QPR squad on the whole.

Having someone who has played as many games as the former Huddersfield man has is vital to younger players and he can also be a big influence in the dressing room.

McClaren will recognise that and he could be hard to replace if he did go in that sense as well as on the pitch.
