Bristol City take on Leeds United this weekend in the Sky Bet Championship and the clash promises to throw up an exciting game.

The two sides both have eyes on making the Premier League this season.

The home team, Bristol City, have got their gaze on the top six whilst Leeds United will be looking for an away victory to keep their top two hopes in their hands.

As well as that, though, an interesting sub-plot involving Callum O'Dowda will surely grab the attention of at least some this weekend.

The winger was linked with Leeds United in the January window, but nothing came about as the Whites looked to sign Daniel James instead.

However, having seen a one-year extension on his contract with the Robins triggered, there now seems to be a hold up with the club aiming to get him to pen a deal with more years on it.

Lee Johnson revealed via the Bristol Post:

"I don't know if there's anything in the conscious or sub-conscious [affecting his current form] but the fact is at the moment he hasn't signed."

A potential boost for Leeds, then? We take a look at two reasons why...

Available at a cut-price?

If O'Dowda does not sign this long-term deal, he will be a player with just one year left on his current contract at the Robins - thanks to the automatic trigger.

That means his value would be lower than it might be otherwise and the Robins may be forced to sell to at least get something for him.

Leeds, if interested, would have a strong bargaining position.

Obvious quality

O'Dowda is a very good winger so of course, if he is potentially open to a move that is going to be a good thing for any potential suitors - including Leeds.

He still has plenty of room to grow and is a direct and talented winger who'd surely do well under Marcelo Bielsa.
