Sheffield United continued their own charge towards the Premier League today with a solid 2-0 win over Rotherham United at Bramall Lane.

Goals from Jack O'Connell and Mark Duffy were enough for Chris Wilder's men to keep the pressure on at the top of the table, and the Blades manager will be confident of seeing the job through if his players can simply keep plugging away as they are.

However, the Blades haven't just been catching the eye of the admiring public and pundits, with Peterborough midfielder Marcus Maddison revealing via his Instagram page that he actually has a fondness for the Blades and Championship rivals Aston Villa.

With that message from Maddison, it got us here at FLW thinking if the Peterborough man might well be hinting at possibly making a summer move, with a move to Sheffield United something which could well work out for both parties.

As United continue to press ahead with their successful way of playing, they will be keen on keeping on improving too, with new signings always something Wilder will have his eye on.

With that, we looked at TWO reasons why signing Maddison would be a brilliant piece of business for the Blades...

He brings goals and assists

The last four seasons, including the current campaign, have seen Maddison hit double figures in assists, a seriously impressive feat.

While he isn't consistent in getting goals in the same sort of numbers, he does chip in there too, with eight last season proving a useful addition to his team's play.

He'd have the chance to flourish under Wilder at Bramall Lane, where United's attacking style and free flowing football would give Maddison the chance to really shine.

Versatility and options

The Blades are very set in their way of playing, but a player like Maddison brings options should Wilder need to change things up.

Capable of playing wide and down the middle, Maddison would give Wilder a selection headache if he is signed.

It doesn't seem to matter where he plays and on what side, Maddison can perform, and this could be of huge appeal to the Blades and their coaching team.
