Derby County completed one of the most anticipated moves of the summer when they agreed to sign Jack Marriott from Peterborough United.

Frank Lampard splashed the cash to get the 33-goal striker in after a standout season in League One with Peterborough.

His arrival was to much acclaim from the Rams’ supporters, who were looking forward to seeing the 24-year-old make his mark in the Championship.

Despite making two extended appearances in the League Cup, it is in the league itself where Marriott has come a cropper to the large squad Lampard has assembled.

The striker has found himself not even on the bench at times this year and he could be questioning his decision to join Derby.

And, having failed to start a league game since his arrival, supporters have not had any chance to see the forward find the form that saw him score 33 goals last term.

With that said, here are TWO reasons why Marriott is probably regretting his Derby move...

Jack Marriott has managed just 39 minutes of Championship action this season.

He played 13 minutes in the win over Ipswich Town before an extended time on the pitch last weekend, playing 26 minutes in the defeat to Rotherham United.

In the 630 minutes of league action has been available for the 24-year-old, he has only managed a minute fraction of that, even missing out on the bench some weeks due to squad size.

What kind of message does that send to a player who scored 30+ goals last term?

At Peterborough, Jack Marriott was in a front pairing.

Under Frank Lampard at Derby, a 4-3-3 system is deployed with two wide forwards and a lone man down the middle.

That is not conducive for Marriott to find his best form, he plays better in a two, just like he did when he was at Luton Town.

The system is not helping the former Posh man find his best form.
