Nottingham Forest are plotting an ambitious summer move for Philip Zinckernagel.

According to reports from Football Insider, the Reds are keen to swoop for the Watford man following an impressive few months in the Championship.

The 26-year-old only moved to England during the January transfer window but scored one goal and created five more for the Hornets in that time as they secured promotion to the Premier League.

With Zinckernagel facing an uncertain future following their promotion, it seems that Forest are keen to try their luck for the player.

Here are two reasons why it's no surprise to see Chris Hughton's side make a move.

Championship experience

Nottingham Forest are looking to sign players with a track record of success in the second tier.

While Zinckernagel has only been with Watford since January the player made a big impact during his 21 appearances for the club, starting nine times in five months as the Hornets went on to secure promotion.

After having that time to settle into the Championship, Forest's swoop could come at the perfect time to get the best from the winger.

His final product in front of goal

With players such as Sammy Ameobi and Glenn Murray moving on, Forest are in desperate need of goals.

Philip Zinckernagel has spent a limited time with Watford but managed six goal involvements in just 21 appearances for the club which proves that he's a hugely efficient performer.

If Forest can tap into that then there's no doubt that the Danish player could be a real asset.
