Hull City currently sit rock-bottom of the Championship having picked up just eight points from their opening 12 matches.

Nigel Adkins’ men have struggled to get going so far this season having to operate on a shoestring budget after a financial reigning in after relegation from the Premier League a couple of seasons ago.

Having had the international break to reflect on the first quarter of the season Adkins will be searching for a formula to get them out of their current rut.

The two-week break paused the division and Hull resume their league fixtures this weekend when they host struggling Preston North End.

That match starts an important run for the Tigers with dissenting voices from the Hull fans starting to creep into the KCOM Stadium.

Time could soon well be up for Adkins if negative results continue between now and the final international break of the year next month.

With that said, here are two reasons why Hull would be better off without Adkins as their manager.

If you asked a bunch of Tigers fans, there is a doubt they would all be able to come up with an answer as to how Hull set out to play in their matches.

They have played so many systems so far this season that no one knows how they will line up week to week.

They lack a definitive style of play, and an identity has shown in their results with no consistency whatsoever.

Cutting Nigel Adkins loose could be the decision needed to find a new man to with a clear way of playing.

It seems simple but getting points is the imperative remit for Nigel Adkins.

If he is replaced now, the new manager will have to work the same tools Adkins has had to since the start of the season.

But a new manager could bring that new bounce a club gets when a new manager is at the helm.

That could give the club an upturn in form and come January, make them a more attractive proposition for potential targets.

It is all conjecture but with Hull struggling, time is of the essence to get things right before it’s too late, and points are the most precious commodity available to the Tigers
