In perhaps one of the most surprising moves in the Championship this season, Claudio Ranieri has been linked with Leeds United.

Garry Monk resigned from his post as Leeds boss yesterday much to the horror of the Elland Road faithful, as Monk had led them to their best season in years, finishing just outside the play offs in seventh.

Questions have been asked as to what the club's next move will be, as this will have come as an enormous shock to the system.

The name chiefly linked with the job at the moment is one Claudio Ranieri, a man who is keen to get back into management and has openly admitted he's happy to come back to England.

The Italian won the Premier League with Leicester last season completing one of the most astonishing feats in sporting history, but was sacked this year as the Foxes battled the drop zone.

Here are TWO reasons why this would be an amazing move for Leeds....

He'll be in demand from top clubs

Leading Leicester to the Premier League last year was arguably the great achievement in football history, and has seen Ranieri's stock in the football world rise considerably.

A number of clubs across Europe and, indeed, in England will have his name on a list of potential replacements for their managers, with Watford potentially flirting with the idea.

For Leeds to beat clubs of greater stature than themselves to bring in Ranieri would be an outstanding statement of intent, and an extremely impressive move.

He's now a huge name

His achievements with Leicester have now well and truly put Claudio Ranieri's name back on the map.

He is now a big name in football, known by anyone in the game.

He's also extremely popular and this will undoubtedly attract players who will chose Leeds over other clubs purely to work with him.

Given that Leeds aren't the richest club in the division this would give them an extremely strong advantage in the transfer window that could aid recruitment this summer, and convince those whose futures are up in the air to stay.
