After a successful loan spell at Millwall last season, Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Ben Marshall had a lot of interest in his services.

Neil Harris tried his best to sign the winger on a permeant deal, but he instead opted to move to Carrow Road and agree to terms with Norwich City over his former loan side.

Marshall was playing every week in London and found form that made it impossible to be ignored by other possible Championship suiters.

Having made the move to Norfolk, Marshall was handed the number seven shirt, and his signing drew praise from the club’s fans.

Daniel Farke had a player who was effective in the final third on his hands.

But the winger’s move to East Anglia has not gone as he might have thought it would have gone when he first signed for the club.

With that said, here are two reasons why Marshall is probably regretting Norwich City move.

Despite starting the first three games of the season for the Canaries and playing the entire time, since then appearances have been sparse in the four matches that have followed.

Ben Marshall played just over an hour in the 2-0 win over Preston North End but has been an unused substitute in the past three matches

His best form comes when he has a consistent run of games for out wide, but neither of those things have happened thus far in his career at Carrow Road.

Ben Marshall arrived at Norwich City expending to be playing on the wing - that is his most effective position. That has not been the case, however.

The 27-year-old has featured just once out wide for Daniel Farke’s men and has instead seen most of his football in defence.

Before being named an unused sub three games in a row, the winger had been deployed at right-back for three games this term.

It is not his natural position and could have the former Wolves man frustrated at how his move has gone so far.
