Aston Villa recorded an impressive win against Derby last time out that has pushed Dean Smith's side closer to the play-offs.

Despite their upturn in form recently, the new boss still has a lot of work to do to get Villa back in the promotion mix.

And, many believe January will be crucial for the West Midlands side, with a few new faces needed to help the side for the second half of the season.

One man they have been linked with is Kadeem Harris, the Cardiff winger who starred in their 2-1 win over Brighton on Saturday.

The 25-year-old is out of contract in the summer so would be available at a cut-price in the New Year if he can't get agree terms on a new deal with the Bluebirds.

But, is he the right signing for Villa?

Here we look at TWO reasons why Smith shouldn't go through with a move for the speedy winger...

Signing a winger would be strange as that's the one area where Villa are extremely well-stocked.

They have three similar players to Harris in Yannick Bolasie, Anwar El Ghazi and Albert Adomah, whilst Jonathan Kodjia, Jack Grealish and Ahmed Elmohamady are options out wide too if needed.

Whilst Harris has shown his talents, is he an upgrade on those players? We don't think so and it would be a pointless signing when other areas need prioritising.

Despite his age, Harris hasn't really proven himself over the years and played just three times for Neil Warnock's men in the promotion season last year.

He did have one season where he played regularly for the Welsh side but other than that it's been a frustrating time for him.

Harris hasn't scored goals regularly or made many over a season. It would be a big risk for a side that need to be winning promotion this season.
