Birmingham City have enjoyed a pretty positive start to life under Aitor Karanka and they are yet to lose a league game under the new manager.

A return of six points from the opening four fixtures has given the Spaniard a solid base to build on and it has already highlighted the certain qualities that his team have. Primarily, that has been that they're hard to beat, which is backed up by the fact they have recorded two clean sheets and conceded just two goals.

However, if that has been a positive, the attacking output is a negative. Three goals have been scored in the Championship and two were from a corner whilst the other was a penalty.

So, it's no surprise that many fans think at least one more forward option is required ahead of Friday's 5pm domestic deadline and here we outline TWO players that should be targeted by Karanka...

Quiz: Do Birmingham City and Aston Villa have these 10 things in common?

Kenneth Zohore

Even though Lukas Jutkiewicz is a quality target man at this level, bringing in Zohore from West Brom would make sense.

The striker is way down the pecking order at The Hawthorns and would surely welcome the chance to play regularly elsewhere. At his best, he is a superb physical presence that can link play and score goals.

It would be a challenge for Karanka to get him back to those levels but if he managed it, Blues would have a top Championship striker on their hands.

Jordan Rhodes

Alternatively, Blues could also do with a striker who will be a constant threat in the box and Rhodes could be that man.

Obviously, his struggles with Sheffield Wednesday are a concern but Karanka has managed the player at Middlesbrough in the past and the fact he signed him suggests he understands his quality at this level.

He could benefit playing alongside a target man and would be good competition for Scott Hogan. Again, it's a risk but it's one that could pay off spectacularly if he rediscovers his best form.
