Brentford are having an inconsistent season under Dean Smith as they currently sit in mid-table in the Championship.

Their squad is packed with talent is thin on the ground and arguably needs bolstering.

The creativity of Judge and Jota will be very welcome for the second half of the season whilst the goals of top scorer Scott Hogan have kept them out of any trouble so far.

But with a possible multi million pound move to West Ham on the horizon, Brentford may struggle to score goals but they will have plenty of money to reinvest in the squad.

Smith will mainly look to add some defensive talent to the side in this window whilst also making the odd addition in the attacking department.

They have a West London derby with Chelsea to look forward to in the FA Cup but the main focus will be to climb the league table.

Here are 2 quick fire loan deals they should tie up this week.

Sergi Canos

The 19-year-old was sold from Liverpool in the summer to Norwich despite interest from Brentford, where he spent time on loan last season.

Under Dean Smith he flourished, scoring 7 goals in 39 appearances and showing fantastic creativity which earned him a move to Norwich.

He has struggled to establish himself with the Canaries as the likes of Hoolahan, Murphy and Brady have been preferred and they are interested in loaning him out to get him game time.

Brentford are a club he is familiar with so it would be good for all parties.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles

The talented 19-year-old is a product of the Arsenal academy and he is a key figure for the youth teams.

He spent last season on loan at Championship side Ipswich, where he impressed with his versatility.

He can play as a winger but also at right back or in central midfield.

Brentford need some defensive strength and squad depth so Maitland-Niles could be perfect.
