Portsmouth are well placed to secure promotion back to the Championship for the first time since 2012, nearly three years after their return to League One.

The South coast club have been on the road to recover after falling as far as the fourth tier of English football and Kenny Jackett's side now have an excellent opportunity to end the season well.

With a two-point gap to the automatic promotion places after 35 matches, a good run of form could see them secure a spot in the top two.

However, with just one point separating them and Sunderland in seventh, they will also know that any slip up could see them miss out on the playoff altogether.

Here, we look at two questions facing Portsmouth as they near the end of the season.

When will football restart?

Football has been suspended until April 30 at the earliest and as a result there have been growing doubts as to whether the season will be completed.

If the delay is extended there is a chance that clubs could miss out on promotion and in the case of Portsmouth, this could prove devastating.

The club will of course hope that the season can continue, but for Pompey fans there are plenty of doubts at the moment.

Can Portsmouth find their best form?

Having lost three of their last seven matches, Pompey have seen Oxford United and Coventry City take advantage of their stuttering form.

Jackett's side are lacking a prolific goalscorer, while the manager has also come in for criticism for his selection in recent weeks.

While transfers are not something he is likely to be able resolve in the short term, there is pressure on the boss to find a lineup and settle on it.
