Cardiff City will be aiming to push forward their Championship play-off bid when the EFL's fixture suspension eventually comes to an end, with the Bluebirds currently sat two points adrift of sixth-placed Preston.

Neil Harris' side climbed up the table following their much-needed 2-0 win over Barnsley prior to the suspension of matches, with the Bluebirds now sitting ninth in the table as they start to seriously set their sights on the possibility of a play-off spot.

It has been a mixed season for the Welsh side following an underwhelming return to the Championship under former boss Neil Warnock, but Harris has overseen a gradual improvement since his appointment in November with Cardiff now well placed for a promotion push.

The lack of football gives Cardiff fans plenty of opportunity to mull over the season so far, while they will surely also be asking themselves some questions about what lies ahead after a decision on the remainder of the season is made by football's governing bodies.

Here, we take a look at TWO questions that Cardiff fans will surely be considering during this unexpected break...

How will the fixture suspension affect their play-off bid?

Cardiff would have surely been feeling good about their play-off chances following the victory at Oakwell earlier this month, with goals from Will Vaulks and Callum Paterson helping the Bluebirds to make some important ground in the race for a top-six spot.

The south Wales side would have been looking to take the momentum from the Barnsley win into their clash with league leaders Leeds, but the EFL's fixture suspension meant their high-profile clash with the Whites will have to wait until the season resumes.

It is important that Cardiff's players try and maintain their focus over this period of suspension, while it should be remembered they may also be boosted by the return of Lee Tomlin and Nathaniel Mendez-Laing from their injury lay-offs during the final nine games.

Will Harris be given the funds to improve the squad in the summer?

There may be question marks over the remainder of the current season given the unprecedented nature of recent events, but Cardiff fans may already have an eye on the upcoming transfer window given that it represents Harris' first off-season since his arrival in Wales.

This means the Cardiff boss will probably want to make certain changes to his squad as he will inevitably look to offload some players in order to bring in some new faces, but it remains to be seen whether Harris will be permitted any significant funds by the club's owners.

The fact Cardiff depended on the loan market during January suggests there was not much funding available for Harris, but the situation may well be different in the summer with the Bluebirds needing to recruit a new right-back and another creative midfield option.
