One of the key areas that Wolverhampton Wanderers need to improve upon is their goal-scoring output, with the Molineux outfit having only found the net on 16 occasions in their first 12 league outings making for concerning reading.

Raul Jimenez, as many expected, has led the way in the goal-scoring stakes for the Premier League side, notching up seven goals in his opening few games, however, it is fair to say that the likes of Diogo Jota and Patrick Cutrone have flattered to deceive this term.

Given that Wolves are competing in four separate competitions this term, the Midlands club is having to really make use of the limited depth that is available to them.

A task which is easier said than done, with the Premier League club possessing a relatively small squad in comparison to their league rivals, it is perhaps unsurprising that they are assessing what areas of the team need to be strengthened come the January transfer window.

In recent times, Nuno Santo's side have been linked with pursuing the signature of Reading striker Danny Loader, with Football League World reporting exclusively that Wolves are eyeing up a January re-launch for the 19-year-old starlet.

Here, we take a look at TWO pros and TWO cons of Wolves agreeing a deal for the young forward in January....

Pros

Strong technical ability

One of the main pros to Wolves potentially securing this agreement with Reading is that the young forward has the ability to both holds up the ball and run in behind the opposition defence, thus providing his side with the options to both knock balls over the top and into the channels, or play the ball to Loader's feet.

The 19-year-old starlet has shown during his time in Reading's youth ranks that he is good at maintaining possession by dropping short to link the play, whilst on the other hand he has also displayed his ability to make penetrating runs in behind by utilising his burst of pace.

Adds depth to the frontline

The striker would help to add depth to an area of the team that has been found to be lacking in personnel, with Santo only having the services of Jimenez, Cutrone, Jota and Pedro Neto to call upon, it is clear that the Midlands club are in need of another out and out striker.

Neto and Jota aren't your architectural strikers, meaning that only Jimenez and Cutrone are the only real recognised 'number nines' in the squad, meaning that the Wolves can be found lacking in the final third in tightly contested games, meaning there is certainly a vacancy open for Loader to fill.

Cons

Lacks experience

On the face of it, Loader represents something of a risky transfer for Wolves, with the 19-year-old having only made 29 first team appearances for his current employers, the Premier League club would be bringing on board a player with limited experience at the top level.

Given that he still has a good few years left on his current contract, the forward could end up commanding a rather hefty transfer fee for the Molineux based outfit, perhaps deterring Santo from placing a bid.

Would struggle to get in the starting XI

With Jimenez being a certain starter under Santo and Cutrone and Jota possessing far more experience in the senior game, Loader would, in theory, find it hard to break into the starting eleven at Molineux, perhaps putting off the 19-year-old from making the move from Reading.

Although a move to the Premier League would be good for his overall development as a player, it may be more beneficial for the young striker to maintain his stay in the Championship for the time being, as this would provide him with more first-team opportunities.
