West Bromwich Albion have been linked by the Daily Mail with West Ham United midfielder Josh Cullen who is currently on loan at Championship side Charlton Athletic.

The youngster has been impressive throughout the campaign, and is often a key player for the Addicks, and has been for the last two seasons having been on loan at the London club in last season's promotion from League One.

Here are TWO pros and TWO cons to West Brom beating Leeds United to his permanent signature...

Likely to stay in the Premier League

With West Brom's brilliant season coming to an end soon, there is a good chance that they're going to be in the Premier League come the start of the next campaign. With the Baggies likely to be in the top division that would mean that the midfielder would be staying in the league, having taken the step from West Ham.

This would mean that Slaven Bilic and his side will have a player who will be hoping that he can prove that he is good enough for the top division having not been given a chance by the Hammers.

Long-term Jake Livermore replacement

Livermore is now getting on, and at 30-years-old Cullen could well be a future long-term replacement for the midfielder and this could be a very wise move to make from Bilic.

Cullen has all the abilities that would make him a perfect fit next to Romaine Sawyers, and there's no reason why he can't make an instant impact at the club if called upon.

Instant playing-time

This is one part of the move that he may not be happy with, especially if he signs and West Brom have been promoted to the Premier League.

Bilic could well stick with the same team that has got them to the top division, or could even decide to look for bigger targets in a bid to stay up.

There would be no certainty that the player would be an instant starter for the side and this could well be a stall in the move when it comes to what the midfielder's personal preferences are.

Premier League level yet

This is probably the key part to any player looking to join West Brom at this current moment in time. They have a lot of players that are looking like they could do it in the Premier League, but is Cullen ready right now for that step up?

If they're to be promoted this season then the players that are brought into the side have to be up to the required standard straight away in order to help the Baggies maintain that status.

If he joins and they haven't been promoted, then there's no reason why he can't keep developing and eventually become a Premier League player.

However, at this current time a starting berth in the top league may be a step too far.
