Sheffield Wednesday have reportedly frozen out experienced duo Keiren Westwood and Sam Hutchinson according to The Star.

The report claims that the pair have been moved to the Under-23s team for the foreseeable future, which is certainly a bold decision from the Owls boss.

Sheffield Wednesday are currently sat 12th in the Championship table, and are winless in their last five games after a 3-0 defeat to Reading at the weekend.

Both Hutchinson and Westwood weren't named in the matchday squad for the game, with Owls boss Garry Monk revealing in a post-match interview that he has to make certain decision to make a successful environment, which has hinted that both Hutchinson and Westwood were causing issues behind the scenes.

Westwood has since taken to social media to reveal that he hasn't fallen out with Monk, although it remains to be seen as to how much of a future he still has at Hillsborough.

We look at TWO pros and TWO cons to this reported decision from Monk on Westwood and Hutchinson's futures at Sheffield Wednesday.

Pro: It would mean they aren't impacting the first team squad.

If the report from The Star is to be believed, this decision is the right call from Garry Monk.

In the predicament that Wednesday currently find themselves in, they can't afford to have disruptive players having an impact off-the-field.

If that was to happen, then both players could have a negative impact on the current playing squad, who are already struggling for positive results in the Championship in recent weeks.

Con: Westwood could be a better option to what Wednesday currently have.

`

There have been some costly errors from Cameron Dawson in recent weeks, and it remains to be seen as to whether he is the ideal long-term replacement for Westwood.

Westwood has a considerable amount of experience under his belt with the Owls, and he'll be keen to get back into the first-team setup at the earliest of opportunities.

Although Monk has persisted with Dawson recently, Westwood has a point to prove, and his experience could come in handy to the Owls boss in their poor run of results.

Pro: It would lead to hefty wages off the books at Sheffield Wednesday.

Sheffield Wednesday have had their fair share of off-the-field problems in recent season, and their reported overspending could land them in trouble this season.

So, it would make sense for the club to trim the wage bill at Hillsborough as soon as possible.

You have to imagine that Hutchinson and Westwood are likely to be on hefty wages given how long they've been with the club for, and if they were eventually to move on, then it would save the club money going forward.

Con: They both could be of use to the first team at the moment.

Sheffield Wednesday are struggling to find positive results in the Championship at this moment in time.

The Owls are currently winless in their last five games, and supporters voiced their displeasure at the recent defeat to Reading at Hillsborough.

There is a toxic atmosphere amongst supporters at the moment, and it's clear to see why. Some of Garry Monk's team selections have been questionable in recent weeks, and some will feel as though Hutchinson and Westwood could be of use to the starting XI as they look to turn around their poor run of form.
