Sheffield Wednesday have reportedly registered their interest in signing Tottenham Hotspur forward Troy Parrott according to the Evening Standard.

The report also claims that both QPR and Charlton Athletic are interested in landing his signature before January's transfer deadline on Friday.

Parrott has struggled for consistent game time with Spurs this season, and has made just two senior appearances so far this term.

So, it seems as though a potential loan move could be on the cards in the near future, and it'll be interesting to see which club the youngster opts to move to this month.

Sheffield Wednesday are currently sat 11th in the Championship table, and are five points adrift of the play-off places after a recent slump in results.

We look at TWO pros and TWO cons to Sheffield Wednesday registering their interest in signing Parrott before Friday's deadline.

Pro: Parrott has a point to prove in senior football.

The youngster hasn't been given much of a chance in the Spurs first team, making just two senior appearances so far this season.

Therefore, it seems likely that they're going to be willing to sanction a loan move for Parrott before the January transfer window closes.

The forward has been impressive for Spurs' youth team though, and has scored six goals in four appearances in their UEFA Youth League campaign to date.

He'll be eager to make a name for himself in senior football, as he hasn't been out on loan yet in his career so far. So, you can almost guarantee that he'll be doing all he can to impress coaches at Spurs at whichever club he opts to sign for.

Con: The Owls face competition for his signature.

Charlton Athletic and QPR are rumoured to be interested in signing Parrott on loan as well, so it won't be an easy deal for Garry Monk's side to get over the line.

QPR have recently lost Nahki Wells who was recalled by Burnley from his loan spell at Loftus Road. Whereas Charlton are struggling at the wrong end of the Championship table, so they could definitely benefit from signing a striker who can fire them up the table in the near future.

Sheffield Wednesday already have a number of strikers on their books, and Parrott might be tempted by a move to either of the London-based clubs interested in him, as they are more likely to be able to offer him regular minutes.

It's going to be an almighty scramble to land his signature though, with Deadline Day fast approaching.

Pro: He could be the ideal replacement for Steven Fletcher.

Sheffield Wednesday's hopes of finishing inside the play-off places were dealt a blow earlier this month, with the news that Steven Fletcher was to be ruled out of action for up to ten weeks with a knee injury.

Fletcher has been a key player for the Owls this season, and has 12 goals in his 24 appearances so far, so he would have left a sizeable void in attack.

From the early signs, it doesn't seem as though Atdhe Nuhiu or Sam Winall are capable of filling the void left by the Scotsman.

Therefore, this could present Parrott with the opportunity to play his part in the Owls' promotion bid in the Championship. If he can hit the ground running, then the Hillborough faithful won't be too concerned over Fletcher's injury.

Con: Can Sheffield Wednesday offer him regular game time?

Sheffield Wednesday have a number of strikers on their books at the moment, and it would be difficult to see where Parrott would fit into the pecking order in Garry Monk's side.

Steven Fletcher has been his first choice striker for much for much of this season, but with the forward out injured for the foreseeable future, he's had to rely on other options.

Atdhe Nuhiu, Sam Winnall and Fernando Forestieri are just some of the names that could be ahead of Parrott in the pecking order.

So, the Spurs youngster could be tempted by a move elsewhere, where game time is more likely to come for the striker this season.
