Southampton are reportedly considering a move for Queens Park Rangers’ Ebere Eze in January.

It’s been a breakthrough season for Ebere Eze at QPR.

Six goals means he’s already two past his record in the Championship last season, and his form this campaign has quickly made him the talk of a Premier League move.

It was revealed today in an FLW exclusive that the Saints are plotting a January swoop for Eze.

Here we take a look at 2 pros and 2 cons of Eze leaving for the Premier League in January.

Pro: The money

Money is a finite thing in football, no less in the Championship.

QPR could get a good deal on a good player in Eze, and the board would likely welcome the money.

The club has been paying for its high-spending days in the Premier League, and are nothing like the free-spenders they once were.

If a reasonable deal is there for the taking, QPR would take it.

Con: He’s QPR’s best player

There’s no getting away from the fact that Eze has been QPR’s best player this season.

His overall game has improved no-end since Warburton walked through the doors - he looks like more of a complete midfielder, having eradicated the inconsistencies that we saw last season.

QPR don’t want to turn into a club that produce these players and sell them within a year or so and with Eze out of the picture, their attack looks a whole lot tamer.

Pro: It paves the way for Bright Osayi-Samuel to come into the first-team

Every silver cloud has its lining, and the lining of this potential eventually could be Bright Osayi-Samuel.

He’s another one of QPR’s younger generation who’ve established themselves as first-team players under Warburton.

Very much like Eze in terms of his style of play, Osayi-Samuel is probably more of a central, more generic midfield-type player than Eze.

But nevertheless, he’d likely be the in-house replacement for Eze, and his potential departure could spell big opportunities for him.

Con: Disrupts the flow

The admission of Eze would present not only a blow in the fact that he's gone, but also that it would disrupt the philosophy that QPR have entailed this season.

He's a player of great pacey and technical ability, and in Warburton's team players are encouraged to take the ball forward and be creative.

If Eze were to leave, it might present Warburton with some tactical issues, and he may need to remould his side.
