Having already brought in the likes of Yoann Barbet, Lee Wallace and Liam Kelly this summer, Queens Park Rangers manager Mark Warburton could be about to sign Rangers ace Jason Holt.

According to the Scottish Sun, the 56-year-old is reportedly keen to re-unite with a player who he previously worked with at Ibrox during his two-year stint in charge of the Light Blues.

If this is indeed true, it is imperative that Warburton consider both the positives and the negatives that signing Holt could have on the R's fortunes next season before committing to a switch.

Keeping this in mind, we have set out two pros as well as two cons to the Hoops sealing a deal for the midfielder based on his career to date.

Check them out below...

Pros

He has thrived under the guidance of Warburton before

A star performer during Rangers' promotion winning 2015/16 campaign, Holt was named in the Scottish Championship PFA Team of the Year alongside four of his team-mates.

Although it is fair to say that he has failed to push on since this particular achievement, there is no reason why the midfielder cannot thrive under the guidance of Warburton once again next season if the Hoops decide to sign him up.

He could provide Luke Freeman with some much-needed competition next season

Unquestionably QPR's best player last season, Luke Freeman provided 14 goal contributions for his side as he helped steer them away from the real prospect of being relegated to League One.

Yet despite his heroics, it could be argued that the lack of competition for places at Loftus Road may be holding the midfielder back somewhat and so the arrival of Holt could quite easily push both players to new heights over the coming years.

Cons

He has no prior experience of playing in the Championship

Whereas Holt has played in League One for Fleetwood Town and Sheffield United in recent years, the fact that he has never played at Championship level before could be a worry for the Hoops.

Famed for being one of the most competitive leagues in world football, the second-tier can be extremely daunting for those who have no prior experience of it and therefore it would not be at all surprising if the 30-year-old struggles to make an impact for the R's if he does join.

He may not be able to take the R's forward as a club

When you consider that the Hoops were a Premier League side just four years ago, the ultimate goal for Warburton simply has to be to get the club back within striking distance of promotion.

Yet in order to have any chance of achieving this, he must bring in players who have the pedigree needed to take the R's forward in the Championship.

Therefore, it may be worth Warburton steering clear of Holt who is not proven at this level and instead focus on the possibility of signing other midfielders instead.
