QPR are one of the Championship sides leading the race to sign Tottenham winger Jack Clarke on loan for the remainder of the season, according to Football Insider.

Clarke saw his season-long loan spell at Leeds United cut short earlier this month following his lack of playing time at Elland Road, but it now appears as though he is set to head out on another temporary spell for the second half of the campaign.

It is thought that a large number of Championship clubs have identified the 19-year-old as a potential target to help bolster their side, but QPR, Millwall and Derby are now reportedly leading the competition for his signature.

Clarke made just three appearances for Leeds in the first half of the season as he struggled to break into the side under Marcelo Bielsa, but it appears this has not stopped QPR from targeting the Whites' academy product.

Here, we take a look at two pros and two cons to QPR sealing a move for the winger...

Pro: Proven in the Championship

Clarke enjoyed his breakthrough season in the Championship last term as he played an important role during Leeds' promotion push, with the winger scoring two goals and two assists in his 25 appearances for the Whites last term.

The teenager caused plenty of problems for Championship defences during his time in a Leeds shirt, with one particularly memorable performance against Derby standing out, and it was this kind of form that earned him his move to Spurs.

Clarke may not have been afforded the number of minutes he would have liked so far this campaign, but this can largely be owed to the wealth of talent within the Leeds' squad rather than Clarke's ability.

Pro: Hungry to produce the goods

Clarke received a taste of regular Championship football last campaign as he made 13 consecutive appearances for the Whites in the middle of last season, so he will have found it frustrating to have not played much this term.

Therefore, the Spurs youngster will now be desperate to prove himself to supporters in the division, while he will also be eager to remind his parent club why they decided to make the investment in him last summer.

QPR would be getting a player who is clearly hungry to succeed, and this should be an excellent quality for them to have within their ranks given the fact they will be targeting a play-off push in the second half of the season.

Con: QPR already have many attackers

QPR have every reason to delve into the transfer market this January given the need to boost their squad ahead of an important few months, but they really need to be prioritising defenders over attackers at this stage.

The West London side are already well-equipped in attack with the likes of Bright Osayi-Samuel, Ebere Eze and Ilias Chair all performing well of late, and they don't necessarily need to another attacking midfield option in Clarke.

Mark Warburton would be better off targeting defenders to help improve his side's poor defensive record in the remainder of the season, and it seems a slightly strange move for the club to be piling their efforts into signing the Spurs winger.

Con: Spurs will demand regular minutes

Spurs' likely demand for Clarke to receive regular minutes is another factor QPR should seriously consider when deciding whether to sign Clarke, as the North London side will want him to join a club where he guaranteed game time.

The vast array of attacking talent at the Rs means there cannot be any guarantee that Clarke would break into the side on merit at the moment, and Warburton will certainly not want to feel forced into playing Clarke in order to satisfy Spurs.

Therefore, QPR must contemplate whether they are able to give the 19-year-old the game time he will be craving, and they should think about dropping their interest if they don't feel they can meet these demands.
