It's safe to say that QPR need to get signing some players on loan in the final weeks of the window if they are to get away from the drop zone.

Few probably felt that the R's would challenge for promotion this season in all fairness and so that looks to be the case with a tough start to proceedings culminating in two defeats.

For sure, though, the men from Loftus Road still have the opportunity to bolster their squad in the final few weeks of the loan window and that is what Steve McClaren needs to get doing.

We've been thinking about who they might want to consider signing too, then, with Michael Hector's name coming up in discussion.

With that in mind, let's take a look at the two pros and the two cons to the R's bringing Hector in before the deadline comes for loan deals at the end of this month...

The obvious one is that he knows the league.

He was at Hull last season whilst he's played for the likes of Reading in the past in the second tier.

He's had a lot of clubs in his career so far but he knows what it takes to play in the Championship and QPR need more of that going into the campaign.

Hull's defensive record last season cannot be overlooked.

Hector was part of a backline that shipped a lot of goals and that was dug out by a good Tigers attack.

Some might suggest Leonid Slutsky didn't exactly help matters with his cavalier style but fans will still want assurances that Hector would provide defensive stringency rather than open the floodgates.

He's in his prime at the age of 26 and should be set for his best years to come in the next couple of seasons.

QPR have a lot of good young players but they need experience and knowhow around them.

Hector is by no means a veteran but he's got seasons under his belt and is surely ready to now kick on his career with the right club.

The other question mark over him has to be why hasn't he be taken on anywhere?

Chelsea have a glut of players on their books but surely at some point, someone would have come in for him if they'd wanted him.

He's had a number of clubs but since Chelsea signed him in 2015 he's not settled despite playing a good amount of games.

It is a concern to consider at least.
