Nottingham Forest have made an encouraging start to the Sky Bet Championship season under Sabri Lamouchi, but many fans feel that the club will need to sign another striker in January if they are to maintain their promotion push.

Forest currently have Lewis Grabban as their main striker and Rafa Mir - who is on loan at the City Ground from Wolverhampton Wanderers - as backup.

Grabban has been excellent for Forest so far this season and is the Reds' top scorer with ten goals in the Championship, but Mir has really struggled to make an impact since since joining the club in the summer and is yet to find the back of the net.

Forest have been linked with various different strikers ahead of the January transfer window, but some supporters feel that the club should recall Tyler Walker - who has scored ten goals in all competitions this season - from his loan spell at Lincoln City.

Here are two pros and two cons to Forest recalling Walker from his loan spell at Sincil Bank in January...

Pro: He would provide better backup for Lewis Grabban

Grabban has been excellent for Forest so far this season and on his day, he's one of the best strikers in the Championship. However, he can't be expected to do it all on his own.

There's a fine line between a team have a standout player and that team becoming over-reliant on their star man - Forest are in danger of crossing that line with Grabban.

If he were to get injured, Forest would really struggle to replace his goals, which is exactly why the club need to sign another striker in January.

Walker may not have that much experience in the Championship, but he's scored goals for Forest at this level in the past and has already scored ten goals for Lincoln this season. You could agree that he'd be a far better backup option for Grabban than Mir is.

Pro: He won't cost anything

There's no doubt that Forest could do some more firepower up front, but signing a new striker in January is likely to be expensive.

The likes of Dwight Gayle and the other strikers that the Reds have been linked with is going to cost the club a considerable amount of money - be that in transfer fees or wages.

One of the advantages of Forest recalling Walker is that he would not cost the club anything - they would be adding an in-form striker to their ranks for free.

Con: He's relatively unproven in the Championship

Walker is a promising and exciting young striker. He's been excellent for Lincoln so far this season, but recalling him from his loan spell with the Imps would still have to be considered a bit of a risk - especially when you consider that there are more experienced strikers available.

The 23-year-old made 38 appearances in the Championship so far and has scored four goals - although it's worth considering that 23 of those have come from the substitutes' bench.

Of course, you have to take into account that he's spent the past couple of seasons out on loan, so he will obviously have matured and improved a lot in that time, but there's still no telling how much of an impact he'd be able to make.

Con: It would be in his best interests to remain at Lincoln

Walker has been one of the standout players for Lincoln so far this season, but if Forest were to recall him in January, it's difficult to see him replacing Grabban as the Reds' first-choice striker.

It's important to remember that he's still only 23 and that he's still got a lot to learn. He needs to be playing week in, week out, in order to realise his full potential, but if he were to be recalled by Forest, he would be mainly used as backup to Grabban.

With this in mind, it would probably be more beneficial for the young striker to remain at Sincil Bank and continue to gain more experience.
