Millwall are looking to strengthen their attack this January as they have put themselves firmly in the race for the Championship playoffs thanks to their good run of form under Gary Rowett.

The Lions are already believed to be targeting 25-year-old Yeovil Town winger Myles Hippolyte, but they are also thought to be showing an interest in Tottenham Hotspur youngster Jack Clarke.

The 19-year-old had his breakout year with Leeds United last season before Tottenham chose to buy him, before loaning him back to Leeds for the season however he hasn't got the expected game-time and is back at Spurs.

Here, we take a look at two pros and two cons to Millwall signing the youngster...

Gets games close to parent club - pro

Having been bought by a London club before being loaned back to a club in his native Yorkshire, the moving may have unsettled Clarke slightly.

Sending Clarke to Millwall would ensure that he is kept closer to Tottenham so that Jose Mourinho can keep a firm eye on him.

The winger would be regularly watched live by the Premier League side, and he would be able to settle into life in the capital at the same time.

Would get regular minutes - pro

With no disrespect to Millwall, their squad is slightly less talented than the one Clarke was in at Elland Road.

The 19-year-old proved last season that he has the ability to make a difference in the Championship, and Rowett would likely use him in a strong attacking side.

Rowett could do with another winger that is able to create chances for his other team-mates, and Clarke could be just that man.

Joining a team doing well - con

While players joining teams in January that are doing well can often do wonders for confidence, it can also hinder a player's development.

Clarke may find himself frozen out if he was to be loaned out to Millwall, and he may be a victim of the club's overall success this season.

He would provide the side a different option, however, Rowett may believe in the cliche of not changing a winning team.

Wouldn't be the shining star - con

Sometimes when players are loaned out to clubs further down the division, they are expected to be one of the better players within the team.

It would only be natural for Clarke to feel the pressure of Millwall fans at a young age, and he may not perform to the levels that would be expected of him.

The teenager would find himself behind the likes of Jed Wallace and Jayson Molumby in terms of impact on the team, and he would have to settle for whatever squad status Rowett would give him.
