Leeds United have recently been linked with a move for Reading midfielder Andy Rinomhota according to a report from Football Insider.

The 22-year-old has made 19 appearances in all competitions this season for the Berkshire-based side, and has been a rare bright spark in a slow start to the season by the Royals.

They're currently sat 18th in the Championship table, and will be keen to put together a run of form heading into the festive period, starting with a positive result against Barnsley on Wednesday.

Leeds are well in the hunt to win promotion into the Premier League though, with Marcelo Bielsa's side occupying one of the automatic promotion places heading into the festive period.

With the Whites currently eight points clear of Fulham (who are 3rd in the table), promotion into the Premier League seems as though it's Leeds' to lose this season.

We look at TWO pros and TWO cons to Leeds United targeting a swoop for the Reading midfielder.

Pro: He would suit Leeds' style of play

When Rinomhota hasn't been in the. Reading team, they've struggled to find the balance in the midfield between the likes of Ovie Ejaria and John Swift, who are more attack-minded midfielders.

Rinomhota is a threat at both ends of the pitch, which make him a player that could be a real asset to Marcelo Bielsa's side in the future.

Leeds are a team that are known for their high-pressing style of play, and Rinomhota would suit that perfectly, and will feel confident that he can force his way into the starting XI relatively quickly.

Con: Is he good enough for the Premier League?

Rinomhota is yet to feature in the Premier League in his career, and playing younger players in the top-flight too soon, can have consequences for both the player and the club.

There will be concerns as to whether the midfielder is capable of making the step up to the Premier League, and Bielsa could be tempted to find a more experienced alternative ahead of the January transfer window.

Leeds are a club that are heading in the right direction, and promotion is looking a serious possibility, so they have to look towards the future.

Pro: He's a player that has plenty of room to develop

It's easy to forget that Rinomhota is only 22, as he's shown the level of maturity that is required to perform to a high standard on a consistent basis.

Marcelo Bielsa could be targeting the midfielder as he looks to plan for the future, as Rinomhota could potentially be a long-term replacement for Mateusz Klich in the centre of the park.

If he can continue his rapid rise in terms of development, then he's a player with a bright future ahead of him, and he could play a starring role in the coming years for Leeds.

Con: He's likely to cost a hefty amount

Rinomhota signed a new deal with Reading earlier this year, and you have to imagine that the Royals are going to be doing everything they can to keep him at the club for the foreseeable future.

He's been one of their most consistent players in the last couple of seasons, and given his age, it's unlikely that the Berkshire-based club are going to be willing to sell the midfielder anytime soon.

Leeds will know that they have to put in a strong opening offer in the January transfer window, otherwise the Royals might not even be prepared to take their interest in Rinomhota seriously in the future.
