Leeds United are reportedly interested in signing Harold Moukoudi on loan from French club AS Saint-Étienne according to L'Equipe.

Moukoudi has struggled for consistent game time with AS Saint-Étienne, which has seen him linked with a loan departure before this month's transfer window reaches a conclusion.

The 22-year-old has made 15 appearances in total this season, and will be keen to have his short-term future resolved at the earliest of opportunities.

The report from L'Equipe also revealed that West Brom, Derby County and Stoke City were all interested in signing Moukoudi on loan this term.

So, it certainly won't be an easy task to convince the defender to sign up with Leeds as they face stiff competition from some of their Championship rivals.

But Marcelo Bielsa's side are challenging for promotion this term, and are seemingly keen to get over the line this term, after their disappointing collapse in the second-half of last year's campaign.

We look at TWO pros and TWO cons to Leeds United eyeing a loan move for Moukoudi before the January transfer window closes.

Pro: He's a player that is eager to prove himself in senior football.

Moukoudi has been given much of a chance with AS Saint-Étienne this season, and he'll be keen to showcase his talent in the near future.

He's still only 22, and will be hoping that he can make a name for himself in senior football at the earliest of opportunities.

A move to Leeds could present Moukoudi with the perfect opportunity to do just that, and you have to feel as though Marcelo Bielsa would be able to get the best out of the defender.

If he signed for the Whites and hit the ground running, then it'll turn out to be a smart move by both Moukoudi and Leeds United this month as they'll be getting a player that is eager to prove himself.

Con: They face stiff competition for his signature.

Leeds seem as though they're learning from their mistakes in adding to their squad before the January transfer window closes, and Moukoudi would add depth to their defensive options.

However, you have to question as to whether they can offer him regular minutes, and a move to a Championship rival might be better-suited for Moukoudi this month.

West Brom are above Leeds in the league table, and will be hoping that can see them edge ahead of the Whites in the race to land his signature on a short-term basis.

Stoke and Derby are two reputable clubs that are interested as well, and so it's certainly not going to be an easy task by any stretch of the imagination for Bielsa to get this deal over the line.

Pro: Leeds have the 'pulling power' to convince him to sign for them.

Leeds have been somewhat of a 'sleeping giant' in recent seasons, but they're starting to show that they could soon be making a long-awaited return back into the Premier League.

They're sat second in the Championship and seem to be going places under Marcelo Bielsa's guidance. Leeds have also recently completed a deal to sign Jean-Kévin Augustin on loan until the end of the season, with the deal becoming permanent if they win promotion into the top-flight this term.

It's a real statement of intent, and Leeds will certainly fancy their chances of beating their Championship rivals to Moukoudi's signature.

Con: Could Leeds guarantee him regular game time?

Leeds' Ben White (pictured) and Liam Cooper have formed an impressive partnership in the heart of the Leeds defence, and it seems difficult to believe that Moukoudi would come into the starting XI if he arrived at Elland Road.

He's a player with a bright future ahead of him, but given that Marcelo Bielsa is often keen to not make many changes to his starting XI, it might not be the wisest move by Moukoudi to move to Leeds this month.

If he cares about his development, then he'll consider other offers from elsewhere, and a team like Stoke City are much more likely to be able to offer him regular game time this season.
