Having narrowly missed out on promotion from the Championship last month, Leeds United will be aiming to finally bring their hiatus from the Premier League to an end next year.

Yet in order to have the best chance of achieving this goal, it is paramount that boss Marcelo Bielsa gets his recruitment spot on this summer.

Although the Argentine will be wanting to improve the quality in several different areas, one of his overriding priorities during the transfer window will be to sign an attacking midfielder and so it is not at all surprising that he has been linked with a move for a Premier League star.

According to Reading Chronicle journalist Courtney Friday, the Whites have reportedly joined Reading in the race to sign Ovie Ejaria from Liverpool.

If this is indeed true, Bielsa simply has to consider both the positives and the negatives that the 21-year-old could have on the club's fortunes during the upcoming campaign before committing to a deal.

Keeping this in mind, we have set out two pros as well as two cons based on Ejaria's career to date.

Check them out below...

Pros

He has bags of ability

A product of Liverpool's academy, Ejaria is an extremely gifted player who on his day can be a real handful for due to his seemingly endless array of skills.

As well as being a great passer of the ball, the England under-21 international is also a fantastic dribbler who can take on opposition at will.

If he can improve on his consistency which held him back at times at Reading last season, Ejaria could prove to be a useful addition to Bielsa's current roster of players.

He is the perfect fit for Bielsa's system

Although he is arguably at his best when playing in a deeper role, just behind the striker, Ejaria's versatility makes him the perfect fit for Bielsa's system.

With the Argentine continuously asking his players to adopt different positions on the field during games, the Liverpool man may end up thriving at Elland Road as he has shown in the past that can excel wherever he is asked to play.

Cons

He was awful at Rangers and Sunderland

Whereas Ejaria was fairly impressive at Reading earlier this year, his reputation has been damaged considerably by his ineffectiveness for Sunderland and Rangers as both spells ended in disaster for him.

With the latter of the moves raising considerable questions over his character following his decision to quit Ibrox, it could be wise for Leeds to steer well clear of the midfielder as they may not be able to trust him over a course of a season.

Leeds arguably have better players at their disposal already in his position

Despite clearly being a talented player, it could be argued that Ejaria would not be an upgrade on the players that Leeds already have at their disposal at Elland Road.

With Tyler Roberts, Pablo Hernandez and Jack Clarke all able to play in a similar role to the former Sunderland loanee, there is no guarantee that if Bielsa does sign him, he will be a regular starter during the upcoming campaign.

Therefore, it may not be worth the 63-year-old wasting his time on Ejaria as he could be focusing instead on bringing in a player who has a track-record of producing the goods at Championship level.
