Having taken over the reins at Hull City last month, Grant McCann will undoubtedly be looking to put his own stamp on his new side by bringing in a number of new signings this summer.

With the 39-year-old already securing the services of Matt Ingram for the upcoming campaign, he may be about to swoop for one of Liverpool's most exciting young prospects.

According to Goal, the Tigers are reportedly eyeing up the possibility of signing Herbie Kane on a season-long loan deal from the Reds.

If this is indeed true, it is paramount that McCann considers both the positives and the negatives that bringing in the midfielder could have on Hull's fortunes over the course of the next 10 months before committing to a switch.

Keeping this in mind, we have set out two pros as well as two cons to the Tigers completing a move for Kane based on his career to date.

Check them out below...

Pros

He was extremely impressive under the guidance of McCann last season at Doncaster

Having already benefited significantly from the management style that McCann loves to employ, the 20-year-old could be tempted into a reunion with the former Peterborough United boss at Hull next season.

One of Doncaster Rovers' star performers during the previous campaign alongside Mallik Wilks and John Marquis, Kane was directly involved in 11 goals for the club as they reached the play-off semi-finals in League One.

If he can replicate, or even exceed this kind of form for the Tigers, Kane could be a fantastic addition to the club's current roster of players.

He could slot in perfectly in the heart of Hull's midfield

Whereas Hull have the likes of Markus Henriksen and Kevin Stewart to provide protection to the club's defence, it could be argued that they may benefit massively from bringing in a player with an abundance of creativity.

Having demonstrated his ability to score as well as assist for Doncaster last season, Kane could be the perfect addition to their existing options in midfield as he could provide some creativity for the Tigers' forwards.

Cons

He could struggle to adapt to life in the Championship

Although he proved that he is more than good enough to play in the third-tier, the fact that Kane has never played in the Championship should act as a warning for the Tigers.

Renowned for its competitiveness, the second-tier can be a very unforgiving place at times and so if the midfielder cannot hit the ground running for Hull, he may be cut adrift by McCann who can ill-afford to be carrying any passengers if he is to launch a sustained push for the play-offs.

Signing him may not help the club in the long-term

Whereas there is no doubting that Kane is an incredibly gifted midfielder, the fact that he is only available for loan means that he will only be able to have a short-term impact on Hull before moving back to Liverpool.

If the Tigers are to build for the future, McCann may find it more beneficial to bring in permanent signings this summer instead of focusing on temporary deals which have no guarantee of being successful.
