Omar Bogle has been linked with a move away from Grimsby Town since the moment he joined the Mariners.

The 24 year-old scored sixteen goals in 48 appearances for his side last season as they gained promotion to the Football League after a six year absence, and the striker scored twice in a 3-1 victory over Forest Green Rovers in the play-off final.

The more Bogle scores the higher his price tag seems to increase and the number of clubs interested.

However, the Birmingham-born man has 19 goals already this year and it's obscene how many teams have started to show a keenness in his services.

Whilst I am not disrespecting Grimsby Town, I don't think it'll take a huge fee to prize him away from Blundell Park this month.

One outfit who have shown an interest in the striker is Derby County, and here are TWO pros and TWO cons to the Rams signing him.....

PRO - Bogle knows where the net is

There's no denying the fact that Omar Bogle knows where the net is.

He has scored 35 goals since signing for Grimsby in the summer of 2015 and has proven that it's not just good form.

Week in, week out the forward scores important and vital goals for the Mariners so it is clear as to why Derby County have shown an interest.

In my opinion, whilst Steve McClaren as a number of good Championship attackers, I think they are missing one who scores almost every game and that's why they should sign Omar Bogle because he guarantees goals.

PRO - Not a high fee for such a prolific striker

Grimsby Town are a typical League Two club, they can just about balance the books with a signing every here and there.

So I can't see it being too large of a sum for Derby.

Omar Bogle is probably the best player the club have had the luxury to have him play for them, and I honestly think Derby County could get a bargain with signing the forward.

If they can get Bogle on a cheap deal then he won't be a half-bad option to have for strikers if they need a change in their system.

CON - No previous experience of Championship

You can't doubt Omar Bogle's ability, but his goalscoring ratio and experience are two very different contrasts.

He's only had half a season in League Two, albeit he has adapted quite well, but I think the step up two divisions to the Championship won't do Derby County any favours.

I think the 24 year-old should make a move to a comfortable League One team first for his benefit to gain experience at a higher level, because the second-tier is a very competitive division and I honestly think it may be too risky to sign him.

CON - Derby don't need another striker

If you're a keen follower of the Championship then you may know or have the assumption that Derby County have too many strikers in their first-team, especially in their system of playing a 4-3-3 formation with one forward.

The four attackers they do have; David Nugent, Nick Blackman, Matej Vydra, Darren Bent; are enough for the Rams and if they are going to pay a solid sum for Bogle then there is just no need because he wouldn't get any game time under Steve McClaren as they're pushing for the play-offs.

It would be a waste of at least six months for both parties, Bogle could be scoring goals for fun with Grimsby Town instead of sitting on the bench every week at Derby.
