With Bristol City manager Lee Johnson looking to build on a solid 2018/19 campaign next season, it is of little surprise that he has been linked with a move for one of the most exciting prospects in League One.

According to CoventryLive, the 38-year-old is reportedly interested in signing Jordan Willis from Coventry City.

Out of contract this summer, the defender has yet to agree a new deal with the Sky Blues and therefore will be available on a free transfer.

If the Robins' interest in Willis does turn out to be substantiated, it is imperative that they consider both the positives and the negatives that the 24-year-old could have on their fortunes over the coming years before committing to a deal.

Keeping this in mind, we have set out two pros and two cons based on Willis' exploits during his career.

Check them out below...

Pros

He was excellent for Coventry last season

A mainstay in Coventry's starting eleven last season, Willis featured on 39 occasions in all competitions with his tremendous level of consistency helping his side secure an eighth-place finish in League One last month.

Whereas there is no doubting that the step up from the third tier to the Championship is huge, it may be worth the Robins taking a risk on the defender as if he can replicate his fantastic form for them during the 2019/20 campaign, he could turn out to be a priceless addition to their squad.

He has bags of potential

Having produced the goods for Coventry week-in, week-out over the past couple of seasons, Willis may see a move to Ashton Gate as a way of taking his career to new heights.

With plenty of time left to fulfil his potential, the defender could end up thriving under the guidance of a forward-thinking manager in Johnson if he does indeed decide to make the switch.

Cons

He has very little experience of playing in the Championship

When you consider that the second-tier can be a very unforgiving place to play at times, the fact that Willis has only ever played three games at this level should be a concern for the Robins.

Despite possessing a wide array of defensive skills, there is no guarantee that the Sky Blues academy graduate will be able to cut it at this level and therefore signing him could end up being a major mistake to make.

He may not be able to live up to the standards set by Tomas Kalas

With Tomas Kalas returning to Chelsea following a majestic loan spell at Bristol City last season, Willis may struggle to live up to the standards set by the Czech Republic international if he joins the club this summer and Kalas does not.

Given just important the Blues defender was to the Robins, there is a chance that they will finish lower in the Championship standings next season without him and thus take a step backwards under Johnson.
