Aston Villa can start preparing for another month of action after they booked their place in the play-offs with a 1-0 victory over Millwall on Monday.

Dean Smith's side are in an imperious run of form after winning their last 10 Championship matches, with a number of key players stepping up at the right time.

Jack Grealish and Tammy Abraham have both been instrumental to Villa's winning run, with both players also named in the PFA's Championship Team of the Year this week.

However, Abraham has recently suffered an injury blow after dislocating his shoulder in his side's victory over Bolton last weekend.

This has raised doubts over whether he will feature again for Villa this season, with the Midlands giants clearly not willing to rush him back into action despite the play-offs fast approaching.

So, is this the right move?

Here are TWO pros and TWO cons...

Pro: He'll be fit and firing for play-offs

Villa's 10-match winning run means they have now secured their play-off spot with games remaining, so there is little point in rushing Abraham back until they really need him.

There is still plenty of time between now and mid-May, which gives Abraham a chance to fully recover and then hit the ground running in the semi-finals.

The fact it's a shoulder injury means he also shouldn't be off the pace when he returns.

Con: They are still in a battle for home advantage

Villa have an extremely difficult final two matches, as they travel to Leeds before facing Norwich on the final day of the season.

Smith's side currently sit in fifth below their likely play-off opponents West Brom. If this remains the same, Villa will not have the advantage of playing the second leg at home.

This would give West Brom a huge advantage in the tie, which is why there is still a lot to fight for before the regular season ends. Having Abraham sidelined means they can't use his attacking firepower to seal help ensure this fourth-placed finish.

Pro: It gives other forwards a chance

Jonathan Kodjia scored the only goal of the game in Abraham's absence against Millwall which will give him confidence heading into the final run-in.

He has largely played second fiddle to Abraham this term, but Villa need all their players ready to contribute if they are targeting play-off success.

This goal meant Kodjia has now scored in consecutive matches after finding the net against Rotherham in his previous appearance. Abraham's absence means he has a chance to really find his form again.

Con: Hampers chances of knocking confidence from Leeds

Leeds' defence has experienced a torrid time of late. Liam Cooper is still not fully fit, while Pontus Jansson endured difficult outings against Wigan and Brentford.

If Abraham was fit on Sunday, he could have caused some real damage to a back-line already low in confidence.

This could have been a particularly significant psychological boost with there being a possibility of Villa eventually facing Leeds in the play-off final at Wembley.
