Alex Neil has been an undoubted success at Norwich City.

I refuse to believe that, even though he did suffer relegation last season, anyone can think that what Alex Neil has done at Norwich City hasn't been influential at Carrow Road.

To take a side in transition back up through the Play-Offs, and turn them into an efficient side capable of holding some of the best teams in the Premier League at bay deserves a lot of credit. In a lot of games last season, most notably against Manchester City and Arsenal, the Canaries were by far the better side, and if they could have put a few of their chances away, they could be playing in the Premier League next season.

Credit is due to the board for sticking with Neil after relegation, so here are 2 pros and 2 cons to that decision.

Pro 1 - He's done it before

This is the exact scenario Neil found himself in last time he was in 2 years ago, so launching a promotion push should be a guarantee.

With Boro, Burnley and Hull making the trip upstairs Norwich will fancy their chances against arguably one of the weakest Championships in recent years, with several large clubs such as Wolves, Leeds, and QPR going through transitions.

Norwich fans will be confident Neil can do it again.

Pro 2 -  He can get the best out of his players

This is very much a Championship squad. Last seasons relegation looked inevitable considering the lack of Premier League experience in the squad, but at Championship level, Neil can really get the best out of his team.

Cameron Jerome showed this perfectly, as he scored goals for fun in the Championship but struggled in the Premier League.

Get the best out of this squad, and Norwich are going straight back up.

Con 1 - Questionable signings

Steven Naismith was a categorical flop in the Premier League, and wont be earning small money, and poor business in the transfer window, with the exception of Timm Klose, really cost Norwich last season.

Dieumerci Mbokani didn't have the desired goal output as many would have hoped, and with star names such as Nathan Redmond looking set for the door, he will need to invest better.

Con 2 - Poor substitutions

As I mentioned earlier, many times last season Norwich found themselves chasing games that they should have been winning, and with better substitutions, the Canaries might have actually got something out those games and might still have been playing in the Premier League.

So many times Neil opted not to make a change, or made the wrong decision, and that will be just as big a problem if they return to the Premier League once more.
