West Brom yesterday completed the signing of Bakary Sako, with the 30-year-old agreeing a deal until the end of the season with the Championship leaders.

Bringing the Mali international into the club is something of a coup for Albion, with Sako playing an important role last season as he helped keep Crystal Palace in the Premier League.

Despite that, he was released in the summer with the two parties unable to come to an agreement that would see him remain at Selhurst Park.

Now, he will be dropping back into the Championship, a division he knows well having spent two of his three years with the Baggies bitter rivals Wolves' in the second-tier.

Here we look at two positives and two negatives on this deal for West Brom...

As mentioned, Sako played for Wolves in the Championship and he thrived in the division.

Despite suffering relegation to League One in his first year, Sako was a rare positive, whilst he was outstanding when Wanderers returned after 12 months in the third tier.

He was named in the team of the year for the division in 2015, so the Baggies have landed a prove, top player at this level.

It's fair to say that Sako is a very unique player and he will bring his own qualities to this team.

He is a real powerhouse, with his pace and strength a major asset, whilst he boasts an excellent left-foot.

If Darren Moore wants to go with someone different to change a game, Sako is the man.

However, there has to be question marks over whether Albion are getting the Sako that shone at Wolves.

He managed just 50 appearances in three seasons and the fact he was a free agent and has only signed a deal until the end of the season here, doesn't inspire confidence.

Another potential issue is finding a place for Sako in the team.

Primarily a left-winger, Moore has adopted a 3-4-1-2 formation in recent weeks and a wing-back type role wouldn't suit Sako at all.

Alternatively, he could play up top as he did for Palace at times but it's not his natural position and they already have Jay Rodriguez and Dwight Gayle who are unlikely to be dropped.

Sako sometimes appears to need a run of games to find his fitness and form and it's a big ask for him to get in this XI.
