The January transfer window is nearly upon us and clubs up and down the EFL will already be making plans for the New Year.

Football League World exclusively revealed on Wednesday that Huddersfield Town are keeping tabs on in-form Torquay United striker Jamie Reid with Danny Cowley reportedly keen on strengthening his attacking line.

Reid has netted 14 league goals in 21 appearances for Torquay so far this term and can play either as a centre-forward or as a winger.

With a number of Premier League club's reportedly keeping tabs on Town's in-form striker Karlan Grant, the Terriers will be keen on adding to their attacking options.

Reid's goal-scoring form is certainly catching the eye of a host of clubs. Here we take a look at two pros and two cons of the striker signing for Town.

Pro - Add much needed fire power to Town's front-line

After Karlan Grant's nine goals this term, Huddersfield's other strikers have only managed one goal between them.

Fraizer Campbell has got one league goal to his name whereas Josh Koroma, Collin Quaner and Steve Mounie have all failed to hit the back of the net this term.

Although at a much lower-level, Reid clearly posses a natural-finishers instinct and whilst Grant is doing a job for the Terriers so far this term, it would be re-assuring to have someone with a similar attacking threat available to the side.

Con - No Championship experience

Reid boasts 110 National League appearances and 23 appearances in League Two, but the 25-year-old has never played higher than the fourth-tier.

Should Town lose Karlan Grant in January, it might not be too re-assuring for supporters to replace their front-man with someone who only has 23 Football League appearances to his name.

Should Huddersfield go down this route, they may struggle for goals which could see them dragged into a relegation battle.

Pro - They could pick Reid up at a relatively small fee

Rather than spending millions on a fellow Championship striker or even an out-of-favour Premier League one, Torquay wouldn't be able to command too large of a fee for Reid.

Should Town manage to recruit Reid at a small price they will still have a respectable budget in place to recruit players in other positions in the January transfer window.

Con - They may allow Karlan Grant to leave

Should they bring Reid in, in January this may lead to the club allowing Karlan Grant to leave for a Premier League side.

Whilst the Terriers would be able to command a substantial fee for the 22-year-old it would leave a big gap in their side, one that Town fans would need convincing Reid is the man to fill that gap.

Grant has been one of the main reasons why Town have climbed the table in recent weeks and should he leave West Yorkshire in January, many Town fans would be forgiven for wanting a more proven Championship striker signed as a replacement.
