Charlton Athletic are reportedly set to send midfielder Albie Morgan out on loan.

Following the takeover in late November, the Addicks signed five new players in January, Andre Green, David Davis, Matt Smith, Joe Ledley, and Aiden McGeady, as they looked to secure their Championship status.

Lee Bowyer's side are in a dangerous position–sitting 19th, just four points from the drop zone, but will be hoping their January business can help turn the tide.

It appears they haven't finished their business for the season, however, as London News Online has reported that Morgan is set to leave the club on loan.

The 20-year-old was recalled from his loan at Ebbsfleet United due to Charlton's injury issues and has played an important role for Bowyer's side–making 13 appearances and providing two assists.

The Addicks boss will likely be weighing up the advantages and disadvantages of sending the midfielder out on loan once again.

With that in mind, here are two pros and two cons of Morgan leaving on loan for the rest of the season...

Pro: It will aid his development.

Having been a bit-part player in previous seasons, regular first-team football is surely the best thing for the midfielder's game right now.

The opportunity to start and play week in week out will be huge for his development.

It looks like Morgan will take a step down in level and join a National League side, which should provide him with the opportunity to flourish.

Pro: He is unlikely to see any game time at Charlton for the rest of the campaign.

Morgan returned to the South London club from his previous loan due to the injury crisis and with the likes of Sam Field and Josh Cullen returning to fitness, he looks likely to drop down the pecking order.

The arrival of Davis, who has signed on loan from Birmingham City, is another blow to his chances of first-team football.

The 20-year-old looks unlikely to feature at all for the rest of the campaign, so a move elsewhere makes sense.

Con: He has been a good option for the Addicks this season.

Morgan may be set to drop down the pecking order at the club but he has still been a really useful player for Bowyer to have in his squad over the last few months.

He is a hard-working midfielder, with a good eye for a pass.

Despite the other players available, by sending Morgan out on loan, Bowyer is losing a player that has proven really useful.

Con: They will have less cover in the case of another injury crisis.

The injury crisis that caused so many issues for Charlton earlier this season was undoubtedly a really unfortunate one they are part and parcel of the game.

There is no guarantee that Field and Cullen are going to return without a hitch, while injuries could strike other players–particularly the 34-year-old Darren Pratley, who has played almost every game this season.

Sending Morgan away on loan will leave the Addicks slightly shorter on cover should injuries prove an issue again.
